Logo Trademark Search
Search for visual conflicts with your logo using the USPTO Design Search Code system.
Searching for Logo Conflicts
A logo trademark search identifies existing marks that are visually similar to your proposed design mark. Instead of looking for phonetic or semantic similarities in text, a logo search examines visual composition, element placement, and the overall commercial impression.
How Design Codes Work
The USPTO classifies every design element using a hierarchical code system. A four-pointed star is 01.01.03. A mountain silhouette is 06.01.02. An eagle is 03.01.24. We identify all applicable codes and search the register for marks sharing those codes with related goods.
When to Search Your Logo
Before filing a design mark application, before investing in signage or packaging, and before launching a brand identity built around the design.
Logo + Word Mark
If your brand includes both a name and a logo, search both. The word mark protects the name; the logo protects the design. Multiple marks searched at the same tier receive a 10% discount.
